The Method

How TIMI works.

Not an app store and not a timer: a simple, repeatable method that the child runs themselves.

← Back to overview
The Method · 01 — The Day

One day. Three colours.

Every task card has a category colour: daily routine, school, activities. Children see the shape of today at a glance, and drag cards to where they fit.

TIMI asks

“What would you like to do before swimming?”

i.
Daily routine

Wake up, brush teeth, get dressed, eat, bath, bed. The things that repeat every day are the first ones children learn to plan.

ii.
School

School hours sync from the family calendar and show as one big block, so children can see how much time is left before they go.

iii.
Activities

Swimming, art, music, reading. Children pick from the Plan cards and decide which day and time they go in.

iv.
The star Chart

Each finished task lights a star. Everyone’s stars sit together, working towards rewards parents set.

The Method · 02 — The Task

Every task, five beats.

From plan to done, every task follows the same five beats. The repetition is what lets children stop needing an adult to prompt them.

TIMI says

“Mia, it’s time to brush your teeth.”

1
Plan

The child drags the card onto the timeline, or checks the day a parent helped set up.

2
See

The current task lights up as “Now”, and the next one is visible too.

3
Hear

At the right time, TIMI gives a gentle reminder using the child’s name. Tap the speaker to hear it again.

4
Do

The child walks away from the screen and does it. TIMI doesn’t need to be watched.

5
Shine

They come back, tap the tick, and a star lands on the chart.

The Method · 03 — The Ages

Planning that grows with them.

The same screen: a 3-year-old follows pictures, a 9-year-old starts planning the whole week. Parents can adjust how much each child is allowed to change.

3–4Follow
Pictures, sounds, one tap

Follows big icons and spoken prompts through a few morning tasks. With an adult nearby, drags one card into “next”.

5–6Plan
Plans a morning

Orders the tasks before school, understands “now” and “next”, and counts the sleeps to a birthday in the Month view.

7–9Balance
Plans the week

Plans a week of activities, estimates how long things take, and learns to choose when there isn’t time for everything.

A Morning, Start to Finish

What one morning
actually looks like.

The child plans, TIMI reminds, the child walks away to do it, and comes back for a star.

A girl drags a card onto her morning
7:42 · PlanShoes on goes after breakfast. Her call.
A girl reads the brush-teeth reminder
7:50 · Hear“Mia, time to brush your teeth.” The reminder comes from the calendar, not from Mum.
A family cheers at the star chart
8:30 · ShineA star, and one step closer to the weekend reward.

Renders of the TIMI design. Campaign photos will be taken with the working prototype.
